Produced by ACRRM, this entire conference is recorded and available online.

The Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) is an online community for health and medical professionals (generalists and specialists) who are interested in the use of TeleHealth to improve access to care for rural, Aboriginal and aged care patients. See www.ehealth.acrrm.org.au

Just today, the Psychiatric Times ran our article outlining why Skype isn't a wise choice for health care. As the lead author, I invite you to have a look at the article and leave your comments below.

If you've been working on your taxes and are realizing that you're not generating enough income, you're not alone. As described in "The Pay is the Thing: Re-evaluating Mental Health Reimbursement," most of us in behavioral or mental health care are not making fees that are commensurate with our level of training. As the author of that article linked above aptly states:

Yesterday, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) put on display in the Federal Register a final rule with request for comments titled “Increased Federal Medical Assistance Percentage through the Affordable Care of 2010” (CMS-2327-FC.) This rule implements provisions of the Affordable Care Act on increased Federal Medical Assistance Percentage (FMAP), or matching, rates for certain Medicaid beneficiaries in states.

As we've been discussing, not all telehealth must involve direct care. The vast majority of the world's inhabitants will never meet with a behavioral or mental health professional. With the advent of the Internet and mHealth devices, they can nonetheless be helpoed with "self-help" materials, and especially those developed by professionals. Both self-help and professional training are two rich areas that have largely been untapped in telehealth, but noentheless are fully recognized by the U.S.

Audiobooks

In our previous newsletter, we discussed how eBooks can be used to generate passive income.  An additional product that can easily be generated from the content in your eBook is an audiobook.  An audiobook is a digital recording of a printed book which you download from the internet and then listen to on a computer or portable device, such as an iPod or mp3 player.
